The lovely imperial town of Bad Ischl again hosts an Operetta Festival of a very special kind from July 17 to September 05, 2010. We warmly welcome you to this year's Lehár Festival!

The Lehár Festival ranks among the cultural highlights in Bad Ischl, the former summer residence of the Imperial Family amidst the Upper Austrian Salzkammergut Region. Bad Ischl still reflects a certain imperial conceit in its architecture, much of it left over from the heyday of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. No other Austrian resort captures the glamour of the long-departed empire quite like this one. And it is the place where Franz Lehár lived for 40 years and wrote many of his unforgettable compositions. For more than 40 years, operettas have been staged in an informal summer atmosphere at Bad Ischl.

Within the 2010 Lehár Festival, two outstanding operettas are performed in all-new productions: Emmerich Kálmán’s "The Gypsy Princess" will enchant the audience with its rousing tunes - première performance is on July 14, 2010. Leo Falls classic "Der Fidele Bauer" premières on July 14, 2010 with its intriguing folk song melodies.

Both operettas are historic-classic productions.
