Cycling the Grenzland Trail
Thick forests, strange granite formations and rolling hills characterise the landscape that awaits ambitious cyclists along the Grenzland Bike Path.
The Grenzland Bike Path, which runs for 194 kilometres from Kramesau in the Bohemian Forest to Arbesbach in Lower Austria, is almost entirely located in Upper Austria. Due to the hilly landscape, there are many inclines and declines, but it is one of the most beautiful bike paths in Upper Austria.
During your biking tour along the Grenzweg Bike Path, you will find marvellous views of the Danube Valley, the Vltava Reservoir and the impressive Bohemian Forest. For culture, you have the Schlägl Monastery, where the Premonstratensian Canons brew their famous “Schlägl Bier“, the Upper Austrian School Museum in Bad Leonfelden or the Hinterglasmuseum in Sandl at your beck and call. Via Liebenau, the Upper Austrian commune at the highest altitude, you will descend into the Waldviertel quarter, where you might want to stop off at the monumental ruins in Arbesbach.
Get a move-on for an exciting biking tour along the Grenzland Bike Path!
