Anton Bruckner Cycle Path
Discover the region's array of historical sites and cultural highlights from the seat of your bicycle. The choice is varied!
Departing from lovely Enns, Austria's oldest town, you are strongly recommended to visit the Roman Lauriacum Museum, or to climb the 156 steps of the picturesque Town Tower offering stunning views of the surrounding landscapes of outstanding natural beauty.
The first stage of the Anton Bruckner Cycle Path continues past picturesque St. Florian where the Augustinian St. Florian Monastery awaits all cycling fans. This jewel of Baroque architecture boasts a Collegiate Church, a Library, a Marble Salon, an Imperial Apartment, and a wonderful Picture Gallery. The greatest composer of church music in 19th-century Austria, Anton Bruckner became the organist at St. Florian as a young man. His unique organ with 103 registers and 7,836 pipes can be found in the Collegiate Church. You can visit his crypt as well as the room where he lived for about a decade.
Leaving behind St. Florian, you pedal towards Linz-Ebelsberg. Passing Pichlingersee Lake, the Traun Cycle Path brings you back to lovely Enns via Asten.
