Kalkalpen National Park Region, Upper Austria

The Kalkalpen National Park is an area of awesome natural beauty and is noted for being the most densely wooded and the most beautiful National Park in Austria. The Park accommodates a rich and enchanting variety of rare plants, among them 50 varieties of orchids and 1,400 types of butterflies. Some of the animal species can only be found in this area anymore, such as golden eagles, lynxes, capercailzies, and salamanders. There's something to do here every day whether it's a thrilling adventure or just some quiet time listening to nature and absorbing the magnificent scenery. Climb above the lookout tower on Wurbauerkogel for fantastic views and take in the stunning, unspoiled scenery. The Visitor Centers at Molln and Reichraming are mines of knowledge and the key to informed appreciation of the natural environment.
