When Fathers with Their Sons
From beginners’ slopes and deep snow runs to après ski on the plateau of the Feuerkogel – here you will find everything that skiers desire!
Thursday evening in the Feuerkogel ski region: two big kids aged 36, two little kids aged seven and nine. A long boys’ weekend with two experienced skiers and two beginners. All the more reason for “schussing“ and “wedeling“.
“Wow, this is great, dad! I want to ski down it,“ said my little Christoph. I had a bad feeling, since I had begun skiing only two years ago and was not especially good at it, whereas Christoph had never skied in his life. Our companions had it a little better: My friend Klaus and his son considered themselves good skiers. So our paths parted for a little while because my son and I made our way to Anton at the ski school next to the summit station.
Schussing or Taking it Easy.
The first was two dangerous and the second would be our goal for the days to come. Our adventure with Anton began with Christoph and myself being fidgety. It was especially a challenge for me, since I didn’t have much experience and had learnt everything wrong. In the meantime, Klaus and his son enjoyed the ambitious slopes and even took a non-groomed, 6-km-long slop into the valley. My respect!
A great gig heap of fun, film-worthy falls and runs at break-neck speed were what we had over the following days. A lot was by chance, little was under control, but that made it all the more fun. In the end, we didn’t just master the blue slopes, but we even made it all the way down from the Heumahdgupf.
Perfecting Après Ski.
Of course, suitable for children. The children were fascinated by the Dragon Park anyway, so we men had the odd free moment or two and who has the opportunity to try a fine wine in Upper Austria’s wine cellar at the highest altitude? But the children were already asleep and so we made our plans for the next boys’ weekend at the Feuerkogel.
