Culinary Art Festival

When the "Culinary Art Festival" is hosted in Linz for the fifth time from 19 to 24 March 2012, the stars will descend to earth in the capital of Upper Austria.



Austria’s most illustrious festival of pleasure is being hosted for the fifth time. The hotspots, the largest pool of caterers and hoteliers of any Austrian city, will once again invite the “who’s who“ of the culinary scene and Austria’s top winegrowers to the Culinary Art Festival in Linz from 19 to 24 March 2012. 12 star chefs, one of them female, will provide for the one-of-a-kind Gourmet Spring on the Danube in Linz. The gourmet event has become one of the most important culinary festivals in Europe since 2009. The hotspots have managed to bring round 60 of the best and most creative culinary artists to Linz within three years.

The event will open with Bobby Bräuer, Chef of the Year 2012, 3 stars 18 points, Petit Tirolia, Kitzbühel, and Peter Zinter, Young Climber of the Year, 3 stars 17 points, Vincent, Vienna, swinging the cooking spoon together to prepare a six-course gala dinner at the Pöstlingberg Schlöss’l (Monday, 19 March). Winegrowers Reinhard Waldschütz and Matthias Leitner, as well as Austria’s best sommelier, Alexander Koblinger, Restaurant Hotel Obauer in Werfen, will provide exclusive wines to complement the meal.

Portugal’s best chef, Dieter Koschina from Vorarlberg, 2 Michelin stars, Vila Joya, will cook at the 2-star restaurant Herberstein; Toni Mörwald and his chef Roland Huber from the Monastery UND in Krems, 2 Michelin stars, 2 stars 17 points, will provide culinary highlights at the Domviertel Restaurant & Wine Bar; Thomas Dorfer, Landhaus Bacher, 2 Michelin stars in the most recent Guide 2009, 3 stars 18 points, will amaze guests at the renowned Holzpoldl Restaurant; and Franz Fuiko from Carpe Diem in Salzburg, 1 Michelin star, 2 stars 16 points, will provide the gala dinner at the Cubus Restaurant in the Ars Electronica Center.

Josef Floh, Austria’s best public house cook, Gastwirtschaft Floh in Langenlebarn, 2 stars 16 points, will cook at the Romantikgasthaus Oberwirt; and Harald Riedl, 1 Michelin star, 2 stars 16 points, will return to the restaurant where he studied, the Bärenstub’n at Hotel Zum Schwarzen Bären. Andreas Fuchs, 2 stars 15 points, Yohm, Vienna, will provide culinary specialities at the Goldene Pagode; and TV star chef Mike Süsser will prepare the gala dinner at the Arkadenhof, accompanied by the best Kiss cover band in the world.

The concluding gala dinner at Linz’s Redoutensäle and Promenadenhof (Saturday, 24 March) will be prepared by TV star chef Sohyi Kim, Kim Kocht, Vienna, 1 Michelin star, 2 stars 16 points, along with Dieter Koschina and Thomas Dorfer. The meal will be complemented by exclusive wines from Willi Balanjuk, Sepp Moser Vineyards, Lurtschitsch Vineyards and Albert Gesellman.
