Crossing Europe 2012

In its ninth year, the CROSSING EUROPE Film Festival Linz once again commits its programme to idiosyncratic, contemporary and socio-political auteur cinema from Europe and is especially dedicated to the work of young directors.

From 24 to 29 April 2012, CROSSING EUROPE will offer international guests and local cinema-goers round 140 excellent, hand-picked feature, documentary and short films from Europe. In 2012, Christine Dollhofer, the head of the festival, will once again present top-notch, European films and numerous film highlights from Cannes, Berlin and Venice in the Upper Austrian capital, thus transforming Linz for almost a week into a multi-facetted festival hot spot.

Numerous international guests, as well as the local audience, appreciate the film event geared towards European cinema and help to establish new records regarding attendees at the second largest international film festival in Austria. In 2011, Crossing Europe attracted 19,000 film fans to the traditional festival quarter round the festival centre OK Offenes Kulturhaus Oberösterreich and the downtown cinemas Moviemento and City-Kino, as well as numerous associated venues, such as Kapu, AFO-Architektenforum OÖ and Atelierhaus Salzamt.

CROSSING EUROPE Film Festival Linz is an attractive and communicative platform for young filmmakers, film fans and representatives of the film and media businesses, a film festival of moderate size, where the relaxed atmosphere of the European film experience is the focus.
